On Shikhar Dhawan's half-century, Karnali Yaks set a target of 150 runs to Kathmandu Gurkhaz in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket on Wednesday. Karnali, who came into bat after Kathmandu captain Karan KC won the toss, scored 149 runs after losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs at the Trivi Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

 

Dhawan scored 72 runs in 51 balls. He hit 4 fours and 5 sixes. Dhawan completed his half-century in 42 balls by hitting consecutive balls from Karan for a six and a four in the 18th over. Dhawan hit Nathan Souter for consecutive sixes in the first two balls of the 19th over.

Karan got Dev Khanal out LBW for a wicket in the first over of the match. Chadwick Walton hit 5 boundaries and scored 21 runs off 15 balls. He was sent back to the pavilion by Karan taking a fine catch off Jehrard Erasmus. Babar Hayat scored 13 runs with 1 six off 18 balls and was bowled by Dipesh Kandel.

Gulshan Jha, who hit a boundary in the first ball he faced, scored 12 runs in 19 balls and was stumped by Erasmus. Arjun Gharti was bowled by Nathan Souter for 4 runs. From Gurkhaz, Erasmus took 2 wickets after spending 29 runs in 4 overs, Karan took 19 wickets in 3 overs, Dipesh took 7 wickets in 1 over and Souter took 1-1 wicket after spending 32 runs in 4 overs .

Kathmandu lost to Chitwan Rhinos by 5 wickets in their first match and Karnali lost to Janakpur Bolts by 8 wickets in their first match.
