On this day (March 18) in 1995, basketball player Michael Jordan unexpectedly retired from sports. Born on February 17, 1963 in New York, USA, Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Jordan began playing basketball in 1981 for the University of North Carolina. With his outstanding performances, the Chicago Bulls became National Basketball Association (NBA) champions in 1991, 1992 and 1993. But after a few months of retirement, Jordan returned to playing life and played a major role in making the Chicago Bulls NBA champions in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
After that, Jordan, who separated from the game from 1998, returned to the game for two years from 2001. He ended his professional playing career on April 16, 2003. Jordan also won two Olympic gold medals on behalf of the American team in 1984 and 1992.
