Commission directs against using physical form of election symbol in election campaign

The Election Commission has directed against using the physical form of election symbols during election campaigns.

Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai issued a statement on Sunday, directing political parties and independent candidates not to use the physical form of election symbols during campaigning.

Carrying the physical form of election symbols during campaigning in this way has an adverse impact on the peace of the public and the Commission has directed them not to do so.

Political parties or candidates can advertise their election symbols by printing them on cloth, tulle, flex or paper according to the prescribed standards, but instead, the Commission says that there have been complaints and grievances that security risks have increased when physical election symbols made of metal, wood or other similar materials are used to campaign for the election.
