UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has said that he wishes no one had asked him why he was not given a ticket to run for the UML in the upcoming elections on February 21.
Speaking at the session titled 'Policy, Leaders and Leadership' of the Kantipur Conclave 2026, he said, 'Our party has selected candidates in the elections by representing the feelings of the party members below. However, in a few places, the leadership's thinking and claims may have prevailed.' However, he said that this issue will lead to a point where it will be improved systematically.
'Just because I get a ticket, it should not be said that the system adopted by my party is right. Whether I get a ticket or not, the system adopted by the party may be wrong,' he said.
In another context, he said that he was free because he did not get a ticket. Referring to Congress General Secretary Pradeep Poudel, who was also present in the same session, he said, 'He is very busy, but I and Sumana Shrestha, who are here, are free.'
He said that the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra have changed the objective situation of the country. ‘Some may think that nothing has changed, but Marx also said – when the objective situation changes, then your thinking changes.’
