The Election Commission has stated that the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee has received 34 complaints so far and has received responses to 24 of the clarifications sought from the political parties and candidates concerned.
The Commission's Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that necessary action is being taken after receiving complaints at the district level. The Commission has stated that the necessary investigation and action process has been initiated on the complaints received to ensure effective compliance with the election code of conduct and minimize the incidents of violation. He said that the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, District Code of Conduct Approval Officer and related election offices are active for the effective implementation of the code of conduct.
In order to make the code of conduct approval effective at the district level and ensure its implementation, as per Section 32 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers have been appointed to monitor the Assistant Chief District Officers of all 77 districts on non-financial matters and the Chief Fund Controller/Fund Controller on financial matters. The Commission has stated that work is being done to inform stakeholders in all districts about the code of conduct and to make them commit to following the code of conduct in a short time.
Final closed list of candidates for proportional representation system made public The Office of the Returning Officer has published the final closed list of candidates for the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives election. The closed list includes 3,135 candidates from 63 political parties under 57 election symbols. The commission has stated that 1,772 of them are women and 1,363 are men.
