Government is looking for an excuse to postpone the election: UML Vice-Chairman Thapa

UML Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa has accused the government of looking for excuses to postpone the elections.

Speaking at a regular press conference organized by the party in the capital Kathmandu on Wednesday, Vice President Thapa mentioned that the Prime Minister himself had made a statement that the election could be postponed or a second phase election could be held in the Himalayan region citing the possibility of snowfall in the Himalayan districts.

Vice President Thapa also alleged that the current government was formed in an illegal and sponsored manner, claiming that the attempt to postpone the election was against the democratic process.

‘The government is looking for an excuse to postpone the election. The Prime Minister himself has said that if there is snowfall in the Himalayan districts, the election could be postponed or a second phase election could be held in the Himalayan region. What this shows is that the current government is moving in the direction of not holding it. Our party had been saying that the election could not be held in Falgun. Now, the government itself is not going to hold the election on 21 Falgun. It is looking for an excuse to postpone the election. This is a government formed in an illegal and sponsored manner,’ he said.

Thapa also alleges that the government is trying to eliminate the country's major political forces and install those who will burn the country.
