The Congress has fielded Hira KC as its candidate from Rupandehi 1. On the recommendation of the Congress Parliamentary Board, President Gagan Thapa has decided to field KC as his candidate from Rupandehi 1.

KC informed that he received the ticket from the party. 'I express my heartfelt gratitude to the party chairman, the entire party leadership, the general convention representatives and friends at all levels for trusting me as the official candidate of the Congress and entrusting me with the responsibility of being the candidate of Rupandehi 1,' he said.

KC will register his candidacy at 2:30 pm. 'The main goal of my political journey has always been to establish the right values, beliefs and culture in politics. I have been continuously trying to instill hope and confidence in the youth, not despair, and to move the society towards harmony and cooperation, not division. Now I am ready to take the responsibility of taking those efforts forward institutionally, not limiting them to the individual level,' he said. 'This election should be considered as an opportunity to instill a culture of making decisions based on conscience, not fear, not faith.'
