At a press conference held by Congress leaders supporting Sher Bahadur Deuba at the party office in Sanepa, journalists asked whether their domestic disputes would affect the upcoming elections.
Answering a question asked by a journalist, Bimalendra Nidhi said briefly, ‘No, no. There will be an election.’
While Nidhi was speaking, Purna Bahadur Khadka also picked up the microphone he had placed and said, ‘There will be an election. There will be one, there will be two, there will be three.’ Khadka did not stop there. He added, ‘Congress will bring the majority. Jai Nepal.’
The journalists had tried to ask the pro-Deuba leaders more questions. But they did not seem to be in a position to listen to the questions. Instead, the pro-Deuba leaders said that they were going to go to the Election Commission again.
In the morning, the pro-Deuba leaders had reached the Election Commission and returned. They had requested that the petition submitted by the Gagan Thapa faction not be accepted, claiming that they had not held any general convention. After they returned, the pro-special general convention leaders had reached the Commission.
