As of noon, 1,327 delegates have registered their names for the second special general convention of the Nepali Congress.
The special general convention has begun today at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu under the leadership of General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma. The registration of the delegates to the convention is ongoing.
The registration process is starting today from eight 'stalls'. Yubaraj Pandey, coordinator of the special general convention district area, 'Focal Person' coordination committee, informed that 1,327 delegates had registered their names in the registration that started at 9 am till 1:30 pm.
The Congress has stated that it has arranged one stall for Karnali and the Far West, one stall for the public relations committee located abroad, fraternal organizations and well-wishers, one stall for Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur within the valley and separate stalls for the remaining five provinces. The Congress has 4,743 delegates to the convention across the country.
Before the inauguration of the special general convention, participants took out a procession from six different places in Kathmandu. The inauguration was also held at Bhrikuti Mandap shortly before the special general convention. According to Coordinator Pandey, after the inauguration session of the special general convention, a closed session will be held at the assembly hall of Bhrikuti Mandap.
