They have said that they are trying to find a solution in a way that will energize the party ranks by meeting with General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma.

Nepali Congress leaders Dr. Chandra Bhandari and Dr. Sunil Sharma have expressed a clear commitment not to allow the party to be divided under any circumstances.
They said they would play an active role as the escalating dispute within the party over the issue of the special general convention is leading to division.
At a press conference organized in Battisputali, Kathmandu, on Saturday, leader Bhandari expressed the view that the special general convention should not be a means of confrontation, but an opportunity to unify the party. He emphasized that the special general convention should be limited to the form of a policy convention or resolution convention and that an environment should be created to encourage the delegates gathered in Kathmandu to return to the regular general convention in four months.
'We will not allow the party to split under any circumstances,' Bhandari said, 'This issue should be taken as a solution, not a confrontation. We should move towards unifying the party by passing a resolution proposal from the special general convention.' He said that both the supporters of the special general convention and the establishment party should accept each other's ownership and come to a middle-of-the-road option.
Indicating that the establishment faction's complete rejection of the call for a special general convention was a weakness, Bhandari said that the dissatisfaction within the party should be addressed through dialogue.
Similarly, Dr. Sharma also said that they are working day and night to prevent party division. He informed that efforts are being made to find a way out by meeting with General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma to energize the party ranks.
'The Congress has reached the brink of crisis today because the establishment faction has moved forward ignoring the provisions of the constitution,' Sharma said. 'If the Congress falls into crisis, the country itself will fall into crisis.' He said that the main responsibility for resolving the current dispute lies with the shoulders of Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka. He said that if the special general convention supporters try to go the other way, the problem will become even more complicated.
Dr. Bhandari organized a press conference with Dr. Sharma to publicize his views regarding the special general convention starting from Sunday.
Both leaders have been arguing in recent days that the call for a special general convention is a natural process that will make the party stronger, not weaker. On Friday, they reached Bhrikutimandap and praised the steps taken by general secretaries Thapa and Sharma.
At a press conference, Bhandari made it clear that they are ready for any effort to unite the party. 'We are ready to go to unite the party, if it is said that a party will be formed if we leave, we are ready to leave,' he said.
He claimed that the call for a special general convention was natural after the Gen-G movement and that about 54 percent of the general convention delegates supported it. He commented that the central committee's failure to accept it was a weakness. 'Our support is in favor of reconciliation,' Bhandari said, 'Our goal is that the Congress does not split, does not deteriorate, and fulfills the responsibility given to it by history to lead the country.'
