Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has reiterated that the special general convention will not lead to a split in the party.
In a brief statement on social media today, Sharma urged people not to fear and be confused about the 'split' of the Congress party.
'Ready to drink poison to preserve party unity', 'Will leave the hall if division begins l' What we mean by this is - yes, there will be a special general convention, the party will not split,' he wrote, 'A humble request to everyone again not to fear and be confused about the split l The second special general convention is 'for the Congress of the changed times, for the country that needs to change'!'
After General Secretaries Sharma and Gagan Thapa formally called for a special general convention for Poush 27-28, internal conflict in the party is at its peak.
Both General Secretaries have been making it clear that the second special general convention is not for party division but to give the party new energy and direction in accordance with the changed times.
General Secretary Thapa had said a few days ago that the party would not split even if someone wanted it, saying, This decision has further complicated the general convention dispute.
