The Congress is in a tug-of-war to prepare a candidate list for Sanepa by taking a token from the Election Commission.
Min Bishwakarma, the head of the Nepali Congress's publicity department, has gone to the Election Commission for the proportional closed list. However, in Sanepa, there is still a tug-of-war within the Nepali Congress to select a proportional candidate.
The Congress is working on the homework of holding a meeting of the Central Working Committee and approving it only after an agreement is reached at the informal level. However, the Central Working Committee meeting has not been held yet.
Central member Bal Bahadur KC said that it will take more time to complete the work of selecting candidates. He said that the party has taken the token during the Election Commission's office hours and the list will be sent to the Election Commission only after it is finalized. Discussions are currently being held at the informal level in Sanepa.
According to a central member, the effect of factionalism within the party for selecting candidates is widespread. Although the work of distributing 60/40 seats between the establishment party and other parties is being done, there is a tug-of-war between leaders within the faction for selecting candidates.
The Congress has made a criterion that those who have got the opportunity through proportional representation since 2064 BS will not be allowed this time. According to the criteria made by the Congress, even members of the provincial assembly, office bearers of local municipalities, and people who are proportional representatives in the provincial assembly will not be on the list.
