Election of two candidates cancelled, 15 withdraw candidacies

Of the candidates who registered their candidacies for the 11th UML General Convention, 11 central members have been unanimously elected. According to Central Election Commission Vice-Chairman Sanuraj Pokharel, 11 central members have been elected unopposed.
Leelamani Gautam, who is under 40 years of age, has been elected unopposed from Lumbini Province, and Guma Devi Acharya, Menaka Kumari Pokharel and Shanti Devi Dhakal have been elected unopposed as women central members from the same province.
Similarly, Naresh Rokaya and Sushil Kumar Thapa have been elected as central members from the youth (under 40 years) category, Amar Kumar Yadav and Raunit Sah have been elected as central members from the under 40 age group from Madhes Province, Muslim woman Khajida Khatun Siddiqui, Badami Quari Budha (Bohara) from backward area women, and Hari Prasad Ghimire from Pravas South Asia have been unanimously elected.
Similarly, the election of two candidates has been cancelled. The candidatures of central member candidates Pasang Sherpa and Dharmalal Giri have been cancelled, informed Election Commission Vice-Chairman Pokharel.
Similarly, 14 central candidates, including one Deputy General Secretary, have withdrawn. Rajendra Gautam, who had filed his candidacy for the post of Deputy General Secretary, has withdrawn his candidacy.
Elections for new leadership are being held today at the ongoing general convention at Bhrikutimandap. 2,262 representatives will participate in the election.
