Voting for the UML leadership election is set to begin at 4 pm today.

According to the Central Election Commission, the voting will begin after the candidate's name is 'entered' in the electronic voting machine and tested. Although the voting is scheduled to start at 1 pm, it has taken time to put the list of candidates in the machine.

'Voting will begin at 4 pm,' said Commission member Sanuraj Pokharel, 'The list of all candidates published in the final list will be included in the electronic machine. Now, even if the candidacy is withdrawn, the candidate's name will be displayed in the machine.'

He said that 80 voting machines will be used. 'Another 10 machines will be on backup, of which five machines will be kept for voting practice,' he said.

He said that it will take 25 minutes for one person to vote. There are 2,262 voters for the leadership. There are 603 candidates for 301 posts, including the central committee and office bearers.
