UML's outgoing Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung has claimed that the competition in the general convention will not split the party. Commenting on the closing session of the party's general convention held at Bhrikutimandap on Monday, Gurung said that the competition is aimed at making the party stronger and more robust.

He said, 'It is a party that believes in competition. Our leaders believe in competition. This is not homework done to split. This is done to make the party stronger, more robust.'

Gurung, referring to the general convention as an opportunity to evaluate capable leaders, leaders liked by the cadres, and trustworthy leaders, said that the winning leader will run the party in a strong manner.

He said that the defeated leaders will not have the mentality of leaving the party and will move forward together within the party, respecting everyone's feelings and opinions.
