Six people from UML Makawanpur have filed their candidacies for the post of central member at the ongoing 11th National Convention of UML in Kathmandu. Four people from KP Sharma Oli's team and two from Ishwor Pokharel's team have filed their candidacies for the post of central member.
Six people, including UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, who was previously lobbying to become the central secretary, have filed their candidacies for the central member. Rameshwar Rana, Bharati Pathak, Ekalal Shrestha, Krishna Dahal and Bishwa Bikal, along with Mahesh Bartaula, have filed their candidacies from Makawanpur.
While Bartaula, Rana, Pathak and Shrestha filed their candidacies from the KP Sharma Oli team, Dahal and Bikal filed their candidacies from the Ishwor Pokharel team. Bartaula, Rana, Pathak and Dahal have already been central members. Shrestha and Bikal have filed their candidacies for the central member for the first time.
Among them, Bikal has filed his candidacy for the central member from the Dalit quota. KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel are in the fray with their panel in the ongoing UML general convention. Most of the general convention delegates selected from Makawanpur are from the KP side. The time for filing candidacies for the 11th UML general convention has ended.
Along with this, the commission has also closed the doors of the office. The time for registration of candidatures was fixed after 3 pm on Monday. KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel have filed their candidacies for the post of chairman. Both these leaders will compete in a panel-based competition.
Shankar Pokharel and Surendra Pandey have filed their candidacies for the post of secretary general. The time for registration of candidacies for other office bearers and central members has ended. Elections are being held for 19 office bearers and 301 central members in UML.
