UML leader Surendra Pandey, who has filed his candidacy for the post of general secretary, has said that he is filing his candidacy to bring new life to the party and establish a culture of "not me, but us".

He said that he is committed to creating an environment where youth can reach leadership in the party.

Talking to journalists at the convention venue, he said that it would be a mandatory situation to form a panel and go to the elections, and that he is in favor of the elections being held through democratic methods.

He also said that the UML will not be afraid of genuine competition and democracy. He said, 'Some say that there is no democracy in the UML, that it is not allowed to speak, that there are no elections in the UML, but that is not the case.'
