The meeting of the central secretariat is being held this afternoon to finalize the three main reports to be presented in the second legislative convention of UML starting from Friday.
The secretariat meeting will decide to proceed with suggestions on the political proposal presented by Prime Minister and President KP Sharma Oli, the legislative draft prepared by Vice President Vishnu Paudel and the organizational proposal presented by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel. UML Propaganda Department Head Rajendra Gautam said that they will finalize the three main reports and decide to put them in the convention.
Convention representatives will give their views on these three reports as a group. The UML sent three reports to the sub-committee for suggestions. UML says that it will revise the report by incorporating the proper suggestions given by the floor committee. According to President Oli's proposal, the political report will analyze the developed national/international situation and clarify today's main challenges, the party's direction and workload.
In the political report, a special political proposal to build the basis of socialism under the guidance of multi-party democracy of the people and to establish socialism with Nepali characteristics and a roadmap to advance the national aspirations of a prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali as the party's destination has been presented. The head of propaganda department Gautam said that the national destination of happy Nepalis and establishing socialism with Nepali characteristics.
In its constitution, UML has mandated a new arrangement including the provision of two party members in the party, no age limit of 70 years, maintaining the party's district committee as an executive, a 251-member central committee, one-third of which will be a politburo and a standing committee of 15 central officials, and one woman among the officials.
In the organizational proposal of the party general secretary Pokharel, the problems and solutions in the field of party building, the decisive national power building based on the widely accepted principles developed till date in the field of party building have been stated. "It has been emphasized that the building of national power is indispensable for political stability, national interest and self-respect in the country, and for advancing prosperity and good governance," the UML statement said.
