It is worrying that the teachers' movement is intensifying

It is sad that public school teachers are also protesting when every sector is in turmoil. An educational strike has been announced from March 25 to strengthen the ongoing agitation since March 20 after the annual examinations including the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

After the federation closed all the schools across the country and asked the teachers and staff to participate in the protest compulsorily, it seems that the SEE answer book test and publication of the results will also be directly affected.

The academic strike will have a negative impact on the educational activities of 7 million children in 34 thousand schools, the upcoming class 12 exam will be affected, and the answer sheets of 500,000 students participating in the SEE will not be tested on time.

The Kathmandu-centered street movement by teachers demanding the release of the School Education Act should not be ignored. Even in the past, teachers did not protest with similar demands. The teachers made an agreement with the government in October 2080 that they would prepare a bill by including points according to their agreement, pass it through the parliament and create an education law, but the matter has been neglected so far. In fact, the constitution stipulates that education should be kept at the local level, which the teachers have been denying. They have been taking the stand that both local and federal governments should be responsible for school education.

Similarly, the teachers have also demanded that the government should properly manage temporary, approved posts in schools and subsidized teachers, relief teachers, special teachers, temporary contracts, etc. This fight between the teachers and the government by making the students unaware is not justified in any way.
