Success or happiness?

You call me father. My request is to fill life with positivity. Imagine happiness, not sadness. Remember joy, not pain. Take a step forward every day for what we have envisioned. Notice whether the step was taken or not. My life is lived by this philosophy.

dear children, In last month's article, I ended the article by asking you two questions - 'What makes you happy' and 'What are you willing to fight for?' I think you need to dig a little more into the first question. The World Health Organization has identified mental health as the next 'global pandemic'.

In this context, the question of 'what makes me happy' has become more important. Because studies have concluded that mental health itself improves if you understand what makes you happy.  As a

, the English word 'happiness' has two meanings in Nepali - happy and happy. In my opinion,  'happiness' represents happiness more than happiness. I can't find any English words that describe happiness. Happiness is temporary, happiness is permanent. Happiness is the stem of a flower, happiness is its garland. People associate happiness with achievement. I am happy to get the same number in the examination. I am happy to get a job like

. I am happy after getting the visa. I am happy after earning money etc. etc. It seems that people hold onto their small happiness so that they will be happy when they get something. The younger generation is more advanced in this matter. It leads to success in work and adds happiness. Of course happiness is associated with success. But what researches have shown is that people are not happy when they get success, but when they are happy they get success. Will you be happy by being successful or will you be successful by being happy?

'What makes you happy?'

I decided to do kidney transplant in Nepal for the second time. I wanted to go to the hospital for that. I thought, there is a doctor to go for treatment. There is a tool. There is medicine. It is a pleasure to be treated after an illness. I was happy. But I look like this - the faces of my relatives and well-wishers are dull. I thought, they made a different story in their mind. Because of the story they made up in their mind, they got a little more scared. So before going to the hospital, I had a video message recorded. I said, 'Just like a good player doesn't leave the field in the middle of a game, in the same way I don't leave the field in the middle of our newly awakened dreams.'

Let's look at this event. I was happy that I got treatment in Nepal. But my relatives and well-wishers were worried that something would happen during the treatment. I was happy before the operation and after the operation. But others were happy only after the operation was successful. I think, how we interpret any event to ourselves, what story we tell ourselves, determines whether we are happy or sad.

My advice to you – 'Make your one narrative positive'.

In our own Nepal there was a spiritual thinker named Khaptad Baba (Sachchidananda Saraswati). A few years before he passed away (2053 Baisakh), I had the opportunity to do satsang with him for two hours. His style of expression was very poetic. Even after attaining Satayu, memory and expert knowledge remained. I was surprised by that. I have felt that systematic knowledge in few people. The sadhu who spent half a century at the confluence of Bajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham in the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim Province has a famous book called 'Vichar Vigyan'. In that he says - 'What you think, you become. If you think well, you will get good results. If you think bad, the result will be bad. You are your thoughts.'

Nowadays, the 'Law of Attraction' is very popular in the western countries. I think Khaptad Baba made this rule under his influence. Even in Nepal, I see many young people follow the 'Law of Attraction'. I see the practice of 'manifesting'. The British poet John Milton said in his epic poem "Paradise Lost", "The mind of man is a place that makes heaven hell and hell heaven." I understand heaven and hell as false fictions. We often go through similar fixations. So let's embody his abstract picture.

Here I take the name of a character you have never seen in your life. You will find his face and dress better than his parents. Like: Shivji, did you get the picture? Mother Sita, did you get the picture? Lord Rama, did you get the picture? Shri Krishna, did you get the picture? What is the reason why the face of a character you have never met is clearer than a person you have always met? The reason for this is the story we have created. The 'narrative' we create. The sculptor brings home a stone lying in a riverbed. He climbs on the stone and carves it piece by piece. Turns stones into idols and idols

Bhagwanma. After paying homage to it, he lights incense sticks and offers flowers. Crack the coconut. Flags. Sings bhajan – Lord's Leela Aparampara.... And he himself asks for a boon from that stone. He said Bhagwan Phagat is 'Fixon'. How many such stories do we create in our minds on a daily basis. More negatives than positives.  It is called

– more than 6 thousand thoughts come to a person's mind in a day. Most of these people's thoughts are filled with negative thoughts. And how is life better? Thoughts are the fuel of life, how can the vehicle of life be smooth after the fuel is spoiled?

You call me Ba. My request is to fill life with positivity. Imagine happiness, not sadness. Remember joy, not pain. Take a step forward every day for what we have envisioned. Not how long ago the step was taken, but whether the step was taken or not. My life is lived in this philosophy.

is about the financial year 2075/76. I suggested the then finance minister Yuvraj Khatiwada to introduce a program to encourage young entrepreneurs. Accordingly, Rs 50 crore was allocated to give loans to startups at 2 percent interest rate. This is our system, the work is not done on time. I just read the news today – Ministry of Industry is going to start giving loans to startups to provide loans and seed capital to those who are doing new business and want to do it. For this, 183 projects will get startup enterprise loans. At that time, the program we introduced may have slowed down. It may take time to implement the policy. We kept pushing it.

The Ministry headed by Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari has now started the program. This will fill many startup entrepreneurs with hope. Today I am urging every local level to be active in entrepreneurship. My emphasis is on how municipalities can develop entrepreneurship and create jobs at the local level. I found out that the Bhimad Municipality of Tanahun has made a similar effort. When imported soap was dominating the market, Bhimad made a policy to displace soap within its city limits. For this he is connecting women to entrepreneurship. This program of making women self-reliant and entrepreneurs through surf industry called Matrashakti has become very popular. If jobs can be created at the local level, it will definitely help bring happiness to the people there.

Finally, I would like to share something that always makes me happy based on my own experience. Always be happy. Don't have impossible and unreasonable aspirations. Don't let ego enter your mind. Believe in yourself.

Get rid of your inferiority complex. you can do Set goals and move forward. Thinking that I can will lead you to progress. and makes you happy. Spend time with friends and family. Help others as much as you can. The biggest thing is to make your relationship smooth.

If you do what you thought you would do, how happy will you be that day? Also consider this, the day you say you didn't do it, you will be very unhappy. Therefore, in order to be happy, it is important to have a good relationship with yourself, which is called 'self image' in English. Your relationship with yourself is only good when you do what you say you will do.

If you are happy, the country will be happy. Just as you have to do what you say you will do to be happy, in the same way, the country should do what the country says it will do to make it happy. My focus is on this. After all, we have to make 'prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali'.
