Of the 45 public corporations in Nepal, 27 are profit-making. The remaining 16 are in loss and 2 are closed, according to the Economic Survey 2082/83 released by the government today.
In the previous fiscal year, 28 corporations were in profit and 15 were in loss. By mid-Asad 2082, the total assets of public corporations increased by 9.5 percent to Rs 326.91 billion, which is more than 50 percent of the gross domestic product, the survey said.
‘The government has received a dividend of Rs 8.3776 billion in fiscal year 2081/82 from corporations operating in profit,’ the survey states. ‘In fiscal year 2081/82, the net profit of public corporations increased by 12.0 percent to Rs 45.849 billion.’ During this period, the net profit of profitable corporations was 48.89 billion 6 million and the net loss of loss-making corporations was 3.80 billion 5.7 million.’
It is mentioned that the net profit of profitable corporations increased by 10.6 percent and the net loss of loss-making corporations decreased by 4.1 percent.
