Barring a few incidents, the voting for the House of Representatives member election was conducted peacefully and enthusiastically across the country on Thursday.
The voting, which began at 7 am as scheduled by the Election Commission, ended at 5 pm. Commission Commissioner Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar said that although the voting time is until 5 pm, voters who are waiting in line at the polling station can still vote after that.
According to the commission, no formal announcement has been made to postpone the voting at any polling station so far. The dispute was resolved for a while in Dolakha, Sarlahi and Rautahat. After the postponement of voting for a while, voting is still ongoing at the Malu polling station in Tamakoshi-4, Dolakha. The commission has said that it will hold a press conference at 6:15 pm today to inform about the detailed details of the voting.
65 political parties are competing on 61 election symbols in the first-past-the-post (direct) electoral system. In the direct election, 3,406 candidates, including 3,017 men, 388 women and one other, are in the election race. Three thousand 1363 male and 1772 female candidates are in the race under the proportional electoral system. Elections were held for 165 constituencies under the direct electoral system and 110 seats under the proportional electoral system.
There are 18.9 million 3,689 voters in this election, including 96,63,358 males, 92,40,131 females and 200 others. There are 186,142 temporary voters in the election.
23,112 polling stations were determined for the election at 10,967 polling stations across the country. 143 temporary polling stations were determined. Arrangements were made to give priority to senior citizens, disabled persons, infirm and pregnant women for easy voting.
79,727 Nepal Army, 75,797 Nepal Police, 34,567 Armed Police Force, 1,921 National Investigation and 149,090 Election Police were deployed for election security.
