The facilitation of movement and security checks of passengers entering from India have been further tightened.
Elections are being held in a single phase across the country on 21 Falgun. Security agencies have stated that the number of passengers entering from India has gradually increased as the elections approach. The Armed Police Force has further increased movement coordination and security checks through the help desk in the movement area.
The border with India stretches for about 1,880 km from Taplejung in the east to Kanchanpur in the far west. The border with China is about 1,414 km long. Except for Karnali, the southern districts of all six provinces are connected to India.
In this too, more movement occurs through the checkpoints of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Armed Police Force has deployed manpower for border security at 249 places on the Indian side and 11 places on the Chinese side through ‘Border Out Posts’ (BOPs). The security personnel deployed at the BOP check points have increased the facilitation and security checks of passengers.
According to Armed Police Force Spokesperson DIG Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, security checks and security checks are being conducted regularly even during regular movements, but this has been further strengthened with the election in mind.
Travel with China is possible through visas and in the case of locals, passes issued by the District Administration Office. However, travel is easy due to the open border with India. The Armed Forces have stated that Nepalis who are employed in India have started returning to vote in the upcoming elections and that they are being facilitated through the help desk to make their travel smooth.
Nepal and India have already decided to seal the border for 72 hours during the elections. Before that, necessary facilitation has been provided to incoming passengers to reach their destinations safely and comfortably.
