The Election Commission has set the campaign period for the House of Representatives elections from February 19 to February 30 and has directed stakeholders to fully comply with the code of conduct.

The Election Commission has provided a specific time limit for political parties and candidates to campaign for the election as per the prescribed schedule.

According to the Commission, the campaign period, which will start after midnight on Falgun 3, 2082, i.e. on Falgun 4, will continue till midnight on Falgun 18, said Ram Prasad Bhandari, Acting Chief Election Commissioner of the Commission. According to him, the Commission has directed political parties, candidates, leaders, representatives and well-wishers to fully comply with the election code of conduct during the campaign.

‘Since there is a provision that rallies, public meetings, corner meetings and the media can be used for election campaigning only 15 days before the polling day, political parties and candidates have been allowed to campaign for the election from 12 midnight on Falgun 3 to 12 midnight on the 18,’ he said. ‘The Commission is confident that parties, candidates and other stakeholders will fully comply with the election code of conduct and campaign for the election, keeping the integrity of the election as a high priority.’

He said that the Commission is mobilizing various mechanisms for the implementation and monitoring of the code of conduct. "The Commission wants to avoid the situation of having to take legal action by writing letters to political parties and candidates asking for clarifications just because the code of conduct has been violated," he said. "The election code of conduct is a document formulated after extensive discussions with political parties and stakeholders and with their approval."

In a meeting with media persons, the Commission has warned all stakeholders to conduct election activities only within the boundaries of the code of conduct and not to violate it in any way.
