Asimman Singh Basnyat, Managing Director of Pathao Nepal, has said that it is wrong to compete to earn views and emotional reactions on social media.
Speaking at the session 'Chautari of Dialogue: The Confusion of Algorithms' under 'Kantipur Conclave-2026', Basnyat also said that the tendency to earn views and sentiments immediately can cause problems for himself later. 'If we think that we will earn views today and sentiment today when we move forward with our presentation, it will cause problems for ourselves,' he said, 'It is easy to earn views by creating funds. But what if we get discussions and views first and then it is not practical?' Basnyat, who is also a candidate for the upcoming election, also said that he believes in a long-term journey rather than short-term views. According to him, it is necessary to prioritize continuity, responsibility and long-term impact over immediate popularity in public debates and digital platforms.
