Politician Nisha Adhikari has said that it is necessary for the Election Commission to come up with guidelines for candidates regarding the use of social media.

Speaking at the first session of the second day of the Kantipur Conclave, 'Chautari of Dialogue: The Confusion of Algorithms', she said that just like the mainstream media, social media also needs guidance. 'The Election Commission has issued guidelines for the mainstream media. Similarly, guidelines should be issued for candidates,' she said, 'which should start from this election. This is needed to remove misleading information.' She said that she is starting the election campaign without any fuss. 'This has increased my confidence. I have to maintain my integrity. I have not made any fuss in my campaign. There is a huge space in society for what kind of narrative can be created. I am trying to show my presence in this space,' she said, 'which I will use to establish the agenda. It has to be people-centric. Misleading information is affecting our campaign.
