Comedian Manoj Gajurel has said that comedy is not just a matter of entertainment but is also deeply connected to society.
He said that the common saying that old is bad and new is good is wrong, and that both old and new have good and bad sides. Speaking at the program 'Nepali Politics by Satirizing Yourself' of the fifth edition of Kantipur Conclave, Gajurel said, 'This is not just a matter of comedy, it is a matter of society. The idea that old is bad and new is good is not correct. The only difference now is that the new generation has given it a new color, a new form.'
Discussing the importance of humor and satire, Gajurel said that humor and satire are necessary in all areas of language, culture, art and politics. Regarding language and identity, he said, 'If the language survives, the country survives, if the caste survives, we survive. If we survive, our children survive. For that, the preservation of language and culture is essential.'
