National Independent Party (NISP) President Ravi Lamichhane and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah have discussed joining forces in the upcoming elections.
The discussion, which began at 7 pm on Monday at the residence of former RSNP MP Asim Shah in Kamalpokhari, continued till 1:30 am on Tuesday.
During the discussion, the main topic was how to go ahead together in the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21. Ravi, Balen, RSNP Vice President DP Aryal, Asim Shah, Asif Shah, Kumar Ben, Nischal Basnet and others participated in the discussion.
According to RSNP leader Shah, the two had a discussion in a cordial atmosphere. The conversation focused on changing the current situation of the country and finding a solution to political problems. 'We are brothers, we are brothers. We plan our political journey together, we go together. We understand the situation of the country. The agenda of making alternative forces the mainstream of Nepali politics has moved forward,' said RSNP leader Shah.
Ravi and Balen had individual and group discussions on various political issues during the meeting. 'We discussed that we should come together and find a solution for the country.' That meeting was an icebreaker. There was a principled agreement that the two of them should go together. The rest was secondary,' Shah said about the meeting.
Shah said that Ravi and Balen had never met before for such a long political dialogue. Earlier, when Lamichhane was the Home Minister, Shah had visited the Home Ministry. Shah said that there was an understanding to take political dialogue forward in the coming days.
Leader Shishir Khanal, who is also in the high-level dialogue committee formed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has said that there will be continuous dialogue between Lamichhane and Mayor Shah.
‘Everyone’s expectation is that alternative power should be in one place, in line with that expectation, Chairman Lamichhane has already said that he will adopt maximum flexibility,’ he told Kantipur , ‘Initial discussions have been held under that, it is ongoing.’
