Republicans and monarchists are holding separate protest programs in Kathmandu today. The Socialist Front in favor of the republic and the monarchist parties and groups in favor of the monarchy are going to protest.
Samajwadi Morcha has said that it is going to demonstrate its strength against 'restlessness and regression'. The Samajwadi Morcha is preparing to take out processions from Maitighar, Kupandol, Tripureshwar, Sundhara, New Road, Sohrakhute, Shanti Batika, Maitidevi and other areas of Kathmandu. After the
procession, a meeting will be held at Bhrikutimandap. Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal, United Socialist President Madhav Kumar Nepal, General Secretary of Nepal Communist Party Netra Vikram Chand, President of Nepal Samajwadi Party Mahindra Rai Yadav and other leaders are scheduled to address the meeting. The Morcha is going to demonstrate its power against the restoration of the monarchy and against the wrongdoings done by the government.
Maoist Senior Vice President Narayankaji Shrestha claimed that more than one lakh will participate in the meeting. The parties in the front have prepared to bring protestors from the districts around the capital. A leader said that they have arranged for vehicles for that. Terai Madhesh Jagran Abhiyan stopped at Chitwan and leaders including Maoist Chairman Dahal have returned to Kathmandu.
The monarchists have held a demonstration in Kathmandu's Three Corners. The Kathmandu District Administration Office had designated a place for the monarchists to demonstrate in Tinkune area. Security alert has been heightened after both the powers held demonstrations on the same day. The police said that arrangements have been made so that the two groups do not meet during the demonstration.
Durga Prasai has been assigned as the commander for the demonstration of monarchists including RPRPA, RPRPA Nepal, and both have claimed that their respective power displays will be great.
