Around 11 am on Sunday morning, children were sitting in two groups on the square of Indra Devi Basic School in Panauti-12 Kalanti Ghising. There were no desk-benches nor boards and murals.

After the floods in the second week of last October destroyed all the desks and benches in the building, the teachers had to put the washed carpets and chalks on the ground during the holidays and conduct classes. 

school is teaching nursery in one group, KG in another group and students of two classes together. Due to the flood in the nearby Kalanti River, mud has been piled up in front of the school premises. The classrooms have been buried by a landslide at the back of the school.

Due to the flood damage to the building, furniture and other materials, there was no place to conduct the classes, so the classes had to be conducted in the square. There is still a risk of flooding in front of the school and landslides behind. Out of the five buildings, the flood has damaged 3. 2 temporary learning centers built after the earthquake have been repaired and cleaned, and education up to the basic level has been started. 

The flood of the second week of October washed away the house, shop, and shed of Manzil Tamang, who is studying in class 6. His books, clothes and bags were also taken away. After the long holiday of Dasaintihar, when the class was about to start, she was worried, "I don't have a copy of books, dress, bag, how can I go to school?" What will you study? The school has been open since last Friday. On Friday, Manzil reached school with a dirty face without a book, dress or bag.

He had come to school happily since Sunday as the teachers said they would make all the arrangements. "We have nothing now, not even a house, everything was swept away by the flood," he said Tamang also has no copy book, school uniform and bag. He has come to study since Sunday after the school will manage everything. 

The school is conducting classes using a room damaged by the flood as a Temporary Learning Center (TLC). The landslide has reached the windows at the rear of the building. Humagai, who is studying in 8th grade, said that even when he was sitting in class, he was still worried because there were scenes of damage from the front, back, right and left sides of the room. "No matter where you look at the school, there are cracks everywhere. You are afraid that something will happen," he said. But she said that she could not come to school on time because the road was damaged by the flood. 

Teacher Dhankumari Dahal said that due to the physical condition of the school, children are being taught in fours, but Pani Pariha is not an option. "It is very difficult to teach outside," she said. "We have sent them to school because they will miss classes," said Uddhav Humagain, a parent. According to Principal Krishna Prasad Humagai, there is an immediate need to construct 2 temporary learning centers (TLCs) of 2 rooms in the school. He said that the budget has been managed for this and discussions are underway for preparations. According to him, it seems that the flood has affected the students mentally, due to which they are not able to study well. He said that there is a need for psychosocial counseling for students.
