The former Home Minister and Chairman of the National Independent Party, who were arrested for investigation into cooperative fraud and organized crime, have been handed over to District Police Office Kaski. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) team of the police arrested him in Kathmandu on Friday evening and took him to Pokhara by land at night.
Lamichhane was taken directly to Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences and taken to District Police Office Kaski for health examination. He is now in custody . Entered the office around 2:45 pm at night. was done .
When Lamichhane was taken there, Kaski Police Office Earlier, RSVP Vice President Swarnim Wagle and some activists were present. Another vice president DP Aryal and his wife Nikita Paudel also went by land with Lamichhane. Wagle, Aryal and Poudel met Lamichhane after Kaski police took over and took custody. 
When Lamichhane was taken there, some activists of RSVP raised slogans in front of the police office.
On the road, the co-operative victims also raised slogans at some places on the road saying, "Take action against those who cheat people's money". In some places, RSVP workers raised slogans against the government in protest against the arrest of Lamichhane.
Lamichhane is accused of cheating cooperatives including Suryadarshan. He was also recommended by the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee to conduct an investigation concluding that cooperative savings had been embezzled. 
It is alleged that Lamichhane, when he was the then Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, embezzled the cooperative's savings by taking it to the said media.
