Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that the government is giving priority to search and rescue, relief, treatment and road rehabilitation after the disaster.

Speaking at the meeting of the State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Home Minister said that the government was immediately active in search and rescue after the disaster on October 11 and 12.

After that, the government is working to distribute relief, treat the injured and restore blocked road networks, he said. He informed that passengers stranded on various roads were rescued by helicopter. He said that

patients are being treated free of cost in government hospitals. Similarly, he mentioned that the work of repairing the road network is also going on in all the blocked areas. The Home Minister wrote that although the government had reached out to rescue the people affected by the floods in Lalitpur's Nakkhu on time, it was not possible.

Interior Minister Akbar informed that 218 people have died in the disaster so far. Similarly, 143 people were injured and 27 people were missing, he said. He informed that 4 thousand 222 people were safely rescued by volunteers including the Nepali Army, Armed Police and Nepal Police.
