Chaniklal Tamang is a painter by profession living in Sugam Basti located in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-25. He, who lives in Kavre, Timal, did not go to work on Saturday due to incessant rain. After the rains from Thursday flooded the Nakhkhu River, the locals reached the riverside. He also came out to see the flood.

In Lalitpur's Nakkhu, five people were swept away on Saturday morning while sitting on a tin roof and waiting for rescue. Chaniklal saved 2 of them who were swept away by the flood as the government could not rescue them. The girl's father, Raju Sah, managed to survive by swimming himself. His brother Raj's 4-year-old son Setu and his relative Nandu Sah have gone missing in the flood. They had Rautahat houses and were living in Sugam settlement.
