CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bertaula has drawn the government's attention to immediate payment of dairy farmers. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, he said that the government should immediately provide the payment to the dairy farmers.

He said that according to the constitution, it is not appropriate for the police to interfere with the farmers who are protesting peacefully with their demands.

He said that the government should not delay in paying the amount of milk by immediately addressing the fair demands of the farmers. He said that the money sold by milk farmers is 2 billion from the government and about 3 billion from private dairies and said that the money should be available immediately.

"According to the constitution, it is the right of the citizens to protest peacefully with their demands". Constitutional right is the right . More than 600,000 farmers of this country, especially milk farmers, have started a movement in Kathmandu from today to get paid for the milk they sell. From this morning they started the movement program. They did not do this protest program without informing anyone,' he said, 'They were holding a sit-in after informing the administration, the home administration and informing them that they would hold a program at this place. Milk farmers were sitting on dharna in the premises of Lainchaur Dairy Development Institute in Kathmandu. The police were arrested, the police arrested more than 45 farmers . It is said that they were not treated decently.'

He has said that the demand of the farmers is justified. He said, 'They sold milk . Sold to the government, sold to private individuals . Farmers reached a situation where they had to protest to get the amount of milk sold. Farmers will have to receive about 2 billion rupees from the government. 3 billion from the private sector. The amount of milk of 6 lakh farmers will have to be obtained from the state or from private dairies. They are victims of non-payment. May the milk payment arrears be received immediately . Let the payment be done.'

He asked the government to ensure the payment through negotiations.
