At a time when Kantipur Media Group president Kailash Sirohia is being criticized everywhere against his arrest, the District Court Dhanusha has allowed the police to keep Sirohia in custody for 3 more days for investigation.

Judge Romakant Gyawali's bench allowed the District Police Office Dhanusha to keep him in custody until Sunday to investigate the allegations against President Sirohia.

Indrajit Prasad Mahato, member of Madhes Province of Rashtriya Swatantra Party, filed a complaint with Dhanusha Police saying that the citizenship number issued in the name of Sirohia, president of Kantipur Media, was the same as that of another person. Based on that, the armed police arrested Sirohia from the working room of Kantipur office in Thapathali on Tuesday and brought him to Dhanusha at night. Then, on Wednesday, the District Public Prosecutor's Office asked the District Court for permission to conduct an investigation by detaining him for 5 days, and the court gave him 3 days. After the time given for the first time expired on Thursday, the court gave 3 days time for the public prosecutor's office to ask for permission to keep him in custody for 5 days again on Friday .

Lawyers on behalf of Sirohia demanded to release him saying that he was arrested illegally and the issue of citizenship dispute should not be detained. Senior advocates Shambhu Thapa, Raman Shrestha, Sher Bahadur KC, Gobind Sharma Bandi and Tikaram Bhattarai and advocates Raman Kumar Karn, Kishore Paudel and Dipendra Jha argued.

Despite hearing the argument of the side and the opponent of the case, the bench of Judge Gyawali ordered further detention and investigation. When Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane was the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, Kantipur was serially publishing/broadcasting evidence of misappropriation of cooperative savings. After that, Home Minister Lamichhane, who has repeatedly made threatening statements against Kantipur through the party's programs and social media, Mahato, a member of the National Independent Party Madhes Province Working Committee, of which he is the chairman, filed a complaint against Sirohia, the chairman of Kantipur Media Group, with the Dhanusha Police for citizenship offences.

After the news published in Kantipur with evidence, Lamichhane took revenge under the guise of power and took revenge and arrested Sirohia with the police and brought him to Janakpur for investigation . There is opposition from the national and international level saying that Sirohia was arrested as a revenge. Various political parties, professional organizations, civil society, media-related organizations, legal scholars, etc. are demanding to release Sirohia saying that his arrest was wrong. International organizations related to communication have also objected that Sirohia was arrested in retaliation after the news was published. 

The police had turned away saying that the charges against Sirohia were not a subject to be arrested. However, after Home Minister Lamichhane took the stand that he should be arrested anyway, the matter reached Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. So much so that, "Lamichhane has threatened Prime Minister Dahal that he will resign if Sirohia is not arrested and Dahal is also moving towards arresting Sirohia to preserve his power," says a reliable source. Then both Dahal and Lamichhane  After instructing the police to arrest and investigate Sirohia, a team of armed police reached the Kantipur office.
