Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has claimed that the loan investment in Gorkha Media Network came from Gitendrababu (GB) Rai's company. However, according to the facts compiled from the investigation report conducted by the police, CIB, cooperative office and local level after the complaint of ordinary savers, it has been confirmed that at least 958.1 million rupees were directly transferred from four cooperatives to Gorkha Media Network. Lamichhane was the shareholder, director and managing director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt.
Lamichhane became the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd on February 11, 2017 with the formal announcement of Galaxy Television. After about 15 months, he left the company on June 1, 1979. During the period when he was the managing director, there are documents in the police and cooperative office that clearly show that Gorkha Media received huge amounts of money from various cooperatives.
Documents confirming that funds of Swarnalakshmi in Kathmandu, Supreme in Butwal, Sahara in Chitwan and Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara have been transferred to the Gorkha Media Network have now reached cooperative offices, various police offices, CIB, metropolis and courts. But the investigation has not progressed due to the influence of power.
According to government documents received by Kantipur, 64 crore rupees have been transferred to Gorkha Media as an investment from Swarnalakshmi Sahakari in Kathmandu. The details of the financial year 2078/79 have been collected by the cooperative office. Similarly, 150.31 million from Butwal's Supreme Cooperative and 45.5 million from Pokhara's Suryadarshan Cooperative went to the account of Gorkha Media Network. Out of these, only 30 million was traded, and Lamichhane was not the managing director of Gorkha Media. Similarly, the police have collected the details of transfer of 12 crores from Sahara in Chitwan to Gorkha media. But the police has not given clear information about the date of the transaction.
132.6 million from four cooperatives has been transferred to Gorkha media through Ravi Lamichhane, Vipin Kumar Acharya, Chabilal Joshi, Bhupendrababu Rai, Kumar Ramtel. Similarly, Rs 82.55 million has been transferred to the account of Binamadhyam Gorkha Media Network. In the name of Lamichhane, 2 crores from Supreme Cooperative on 077 Chait 18, 100 crores from Suryadarshan of Pokhara on 078 Asar 31 are seen to go to Gorkha media.
Likewise, money has been transferred to Gorkha Media through Bipin Acharya, the then Creative Director of Gorkha Media and currently Co-General Minister of the National Independent Party. It has been revealed from the documents that went to the Gorkha media that Rs. But Lamichhane has been claiming that he is not aware of the loan received from the cooperative to Gorkha Media and that he is not responsible for it.
However, in the audit report of the first year of operation, it is mentioned that Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd has a short term loan of 227.8 million, which was signed by Lamichhane as the then managing director and submitted to the company registrar's office. In the audit report itself, the total assets of the company are shown at 33 crores, while short term loans are shown at 23 crores. Where did a company with assets of 33 crores without real estate get a short term loan? Lamichhane has been claiming that he is not responsible for this matter. In the next year, when the debt of the institution was shown at 46 crores, it was made that this loan was received from GB Rai's company. There is no mention of GB Rai's company in the audit report of the first year.
Nepalgunj's Equality and Birgunj's Sanopayla Cooperative's savings have also been embezzled, but no documents have been found to confirm that funds have been directly sent to Gorkha media from these two organizations. GB Rai has diverted the funds from his company to Gorkha Media.
While speaking in Parliament on Sunday, Lamichhane claimed that he was not aware of Gorkha Media's borrowing and that he should not be a party to the mistakes made by GB. It has been confirmed from the details that more than 50,000 people's savings from cooperatives in Pokhara, Chitwan, Birgunj, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Kathmandu were embezzled by bringing them to Gorkha Media, the operator of Galaxy Television, when GB was the president and Ravi was the managing director. Even though the savers of Pokhara filed a complaint by name, Lamichhane was not even questioned by the police, even though the Butwal investigation report clearly mentioned that Lamichhane took money from the cooperative both personally and institutionally, his name has disappeared from the list of accused.
Lamichhane and his company Gorkha Media Network have been obstructing the parliament by demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee, saying that they have illegally embezzled funds from various cooperatives in Gorkha Media Network. Lamichhane is not ready to form a committee to investigate him saying that he is innocent.
"Forcing a parliamentary inquiry is unfair, unethical, apolitical, illegal, unjust, excessive, torture," he said in the Parliament meeting on Sunday. The opposition Congress, on the other hand, has demanded an investigation against Lamichhane as per the Cooperative Act, 2074 and the Criminal Code, 2074.
Co-operative savings in Bipin Acharya's company through Gorkha media
Not only the chairman and deputy prime minister and home minister of the National Independent Party Ravi Lamichhane, but also the party's co-general minister Bipin Acharya have been involved in the misappropriation of savers' funds from the cooperative opened under the leadership of Gitendrababu (GB) Rai.
078 1 crore from Suryadarshan Cooperative on 6th of December and 1 crore 56 lakh 15 thousand from Supreme Cooperative on 12 December 2078, a total of 2 crore 56 lakh 15 thousand rupees has been revealed from the documents sent to Gorkha media on behalf of Acharya. Acharya not only brought the co-operative's money to Gorkha Media, but also transferred it from Gorkha Media to his company.
It seems that an amount of 53.5 million rupees has been transferred from Gorkha Media to the account of 'Nobody Production Pvt.', established in the name of Acharya's wife Suraksha Adhikari. Acharya, who is the creative director of Gorkha Media Network, used to produce television programs from his private company and sell them to television. 'Saregam Little Champs Nepal' was conducted on Galaxy Television. The show aired 37 episodes on Galaxy. The payment of which seems to have been made to Nobody Productions from the money of Supreme's savers.
Co-Chief Minister Acharya also claimed that he was not a member of the cooperative and did not take any loan, just like his chairman Lamichhane. "I don't have any business with the Supreme Cooperative of Butwal, there is no chance of doing so," he said to Kantipur, "I have not even applied for a loan, no documents have been asked for."
In the recent past, names have been attached even though they have done nothing in various fields. Acharya then Mega Bank's check no. 20139182 through Nobody Productions Pvt Ltd has admitted that Rs. "We took the payment after the completion of the program according to the contract," he said, "it is not known from which organization the money came." Lamichhane has become the home minister of the country. He has been claiming that he is not responsible for the amount taken by his company from the cooperative.
