12 parties and 3 independent candidates in Arghakhanchi

Three independent candidates, including those from 12 political parties, have registered their nominations in Arghakhanchi for the February 21 election to the House of Representatives.

In Arghakhanchi, which has one constituency, Congress, UML, CPN, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Rajmo, RPP, Pralopa and other parties have registered their nominations.

Bishnu Prasad Khanal from Congress, Pitambar Bhusal from UML, Ram Bahadur Chauhan from Nepali Communist Party, Hari Prasad Bhusal from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Pashupati Dhakal from Rajmo.

Similarly, Pushkar Acharya from Pralopa, Khim Bahadur Gharti from Maoist, Jhanbindra Fullel from RPP, Durga Bahadur Bhat Chhetri from Aam Janata Party, Surya Bahadur Gurung from Mongol National Organization, Bishnu Bahadur Gaha from National Republic Nepal, Tuk Bahadur Chewali from JSP are independent candidates, according to the Returning Officer's Office.

This time, all district-level leaders are contesting the elections. Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who won four consecutive elections from Arghakhanchi in 2064, 2070, 2074 and 2079, has been in detention for two years for investigation in the Bhutanese refugee case. Former Deputy Speaker and Nepali Congress Central Vice President Pushpa Bhusal has announced that she will not contest the election and has supported Khanal.

UML central member Chet Narayan Acharya did not run as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. Other central-level leaders, although they were aspirants, did not get tickets.
