Hark Sampang, chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party and outgoing mayor of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, has decided to run for office from Sunsari-1 in the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21.

Sampang, who resigned from the post of mayor on Sunday, is set to contest the election from Sunsari-1. Mayor Sampang is in the news for his charity work, anti-corruption campaign and people-oriented working style at the local level.

Surya Prasad Bhattarai, ward chairman of Dharan-17, is also preparing to become a candidate for the House of Representatives election from Sunsari-1 on the Nepali Communist Party (NCP). He also resigned from the post on Sunday.
