The traffic movement has been completely blocked after the heavy rain that came after the incessant rain washed away the Hulaki road located in Jhapa Rural Municipality-2.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, due to continuous rains, around 200 houses around the Hulaki road have been flooded after the water level in Mai river and surrounding small streams has increased.

The police said that the rescue work is continuing in the affected settlements. "Floods have damaged both houses and roads in many places, rescue and relief work is being done rapidly," said a police officer of District Police Office, Jhapa.

According to the police, Mechi, Kali, Palia, Ninda, Ratuwa, Timai, Andhuwa, Mai, Kamal and other rivers have suffered a lot of damage due to floods. The police has informed that the complete details of the damage are yet to come and the data collection of the damaged area is underway.

The local administration has said that it is preparing to move the affected to a safe place and to operate a temporary relief camp.
