Due to incessant rain, the Rapti highway has been blocked due to a landslide at Chorkhola near Kapurkot market.
Dozens of vehicles and passengers are stranded when the road is blocked. Some of them have been forced to walk to their homes. Now the work of removing landslides is going on using dozers and a team of rescue workers has been deployed at the scene, said Inspector Bhawani Prasad Dhamala, Information Officer and Spokesperson of District Police Office Salyan.
He informed that it will take some time to remove the landslide as large stones fell on the road. ``Due to the rains, the Rapti highway has been blocked for half an hour to an hour every day due to landslides in Chorkhola. As excavators and dozers have been deployed in the construction of the road, work is being done to remove the landslide immediately, as in the past there is no situation where passengers have to stay on the road for a long time,' he said. He said that not only the Rapti highway but also the rural roads of the district were blocked.
