An arrest warrant has been issued against Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the National Independent Party (RSWP) and former deputy prime minister and home minister, to investigate the cooperative fraud allegations.

The bench of Judge Krishnajung Shah of District Court Kaski gave permission to arrest Lamichhane on Friday. The court has issued an arrest warrant as requested by District Police Office Kaski to investigate Lamichhane.

Chief of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Police  AIG Deepak Thapa informed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Lamichhane. 

Kaski Police Chief SP Shyambabu Olia, DSP Basant Kumar Sharma reached the court for the permission of arrest warrant. They have left the court premises with arrest warrants.

Lamichhane, who was also the then Managing Director of Gorkha Media, along with Gitendrababu (GB) Rai, had embezzled the money of the cooperative. The

report recommended an investigation against Gorkha Media Network's then managing director Lamichhane, chairman GB Rai, then vice chairman and former DIG of Nepal Police Chabilal Joshi and director Kumar Ramtel for fraud, racketeering, organized crime and money laundering. After that recommendation, former DIG Joshi has already been arrested on October 6. He is now in the custody of Kaski Police.

Joshi was arrested from Shankhamul in Kathmandu and taken to Kaski on charges of misappropriating the savings of Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara.

In paragraph 8 of the report of the parliamentary committee, it is mentioned that the Cooperative Fraud Case 2074, the section of the Criminal Code, the Prevention of Organized Crime Act 2070 and the Prevention of Assets Laundering (Money Laundering) Act 2064 will be attracted.

Suryadarshan of Pokhara, Sahara of Chitwan, Supreme of Butwal and Swarnalakshmi Sahakari of Kathmandu brought only 655 million rupees to Gorkha Media, the company had chairman GB Rai and managing director Lamichhane.
