The film 'Ankha', which tells the story of urban poverty and squatters, was shown on Tuesday at 'Cine de Safe Cinemas' in Sundhara, Kathmandu. Facebook's film-related group 'Movie Lovers' has held a 'ticket show' of the film on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
Directed by Jaun Yonjan, the film stars Smita Lamichhane and RK Mehta in lead roles along with Vijay Baral, Nisha Adhikari and others.
According to 'Movie Lovers', 'Eyes' has been selected for the special exhibition with the intention of bringing the films made with a different storyline to the general audience and creating a healthy debate. "We are going to hold this screening to give more strength to our voice that we love good Nepali films," Movie Lovers wrote on their Facebook page, "We are celebrating our tenth anniversary 'Ankha' together." It is a great success and a matter of pride for us.'
Director Yonjan believes that it is necessary to explore complex themes like humanity, social pressure, morality and poverty, and asserted that 'Eyes' has a poignant view of the suffering of the economically disadvantaged and the struggle of people to survive in modern society. said, "The story of 'Eyes' has been prepared to show that sorrow is as terrible and tragic as loneliness."
'Movie Lovers' had earlier conducted an interactive program with filmmakers with a special exhibition of films and documentaries like 'Aina Jhyalko Putli', 'Halkara', 'Acharya', 'Dakini', 'Ma Alap Hun Chaunya'.
