Nepal's petroleum product storage capacity has reached 102,281 kiloliters as of Ashar 2082.
According to the Economic Survey 2082/83 released by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle on Wednesday, the storage capacity of petroleum products is sufficient to meet an average demand of 16 days. Gandaki Province has the highest storage capacity of 37 days and Karnali Province has the lowest storage capacity of 1 day.
The storage of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel in Amlekhgunj depot in Madhesh Province alone accounts for 43.5 percent of the total capacity.
Such storage capacity in Kathmandu is 21.9 percent, in Pokhara 13.3 percent, in Biratnagar 9.9 percent, in Bhairahawa 4.1 percent, in Nepalgunj 3.6 percent and in Dhangadhi 2.6 percent. The Economic Survey mentions that such storage is low in places like Dang, Simara, Bhadrapur, Manthali, Dipalaya and others.
