The government has also specifically mentioned information technology in the list of transformative sectors of the economy. Along with agriculture, energy, tourism, entrepreneurship and industrial development, the promotion of information technology sector is also expected to help bring about economic transformation.
Presenting the budget for the next financial year 2081/82 on Tuesday, Finance Minister Varshman Pun has included information technology in the list of transformational areas and priorities of the budget. The expansion of the digital economy is considered important in the five strategies of economic reform. Minister Pun informed that a new phase of economic reform program will be launched for this.
In addition, he said that the latest financial tools such as the preparation of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) will be used along with the promotion of digital payments as part of the financial reform for the expansion of the digital economy. In addition, Minister Pun claims that the maximum use of information technology will be used in service delivery during the reform of public administration.
