Not just Madi, Mani

The topic of turning Madi into a gem came into the limelight during the 2074 parliamentary election campaign. But Madi is a gem in itself. Although it is a gem, it is like a sheet of dust because it is mixed.

It is not to turn Madi into a gem, it is necessary to wipe away the dust of neglect of its brightness and prosperity. Madi is an old settlement of Chitwan. The tribal community Tharu has been living here since ancient times.

You don't have to go far to know how prosperous Madi was, just look at the situation 60/65 years ago. The development of modern settlements in Chitwan started in 2013 through the Raptidun development project. At that time there were 5 Pragannas including Madi in Chitwan.

In Madi, about 45 km south of Bharatpur, the headquarters of Chitwan, the tribal Tharus were already living. After 2013, the migration of the residents of the hilly districts also increased. Migrants were lured by Madi's fertile soil. But Malilo Madi's face gradually became dull.  At the time of

, Madi once reached the state of a natural prison. Madi is a place surrounded by forest in Chitwan Park. Residents of Madi were restricted from using the park road after sunset. There are dozens of Khare in Madi. Those dams without culverts become impassable during the rainy season. Now the road to the park can be used till 10 pm. Bridges have been built in many Khares, some are under construction. Life is easier than before. But in Madi, obstacles remain.

Agriculture and tourism are the main basis for the development of Madi. Fisheries have flourished in agriculture. 'Fish from Madi' is the consumer's choice, has become a brand. Madi is an important destination with great potential for tourism. Ancient religion, biological diversity and the art and culture of tribal communities have attracted tourists to Madi. Madi is a beautiful valley surrounded by the green forests of Chitwan Park and Someshwar Hills. Madi, which is about 25 km long and 7 km wide, is rich in religious and biological diversity as well as the costumes and customs of the tribal communities.

Along with the discussion of Ram Janmabhoomi, Valmiki's Ashram, Sita Cave and the area where the Panchpandava lived in the forest for ten years are also located here. From Draupadinagar, Bhimsen well, stone boat to Shani, Triveni, Shiva's temples in abundance, this area is also known as a historical religious hotspot.

The historical fort of Someshwargarhi, Shaligram found on North Bahini River, Riu River flowing from the head to the bottom of the settlement, Vaikuntha Lake, Dhanalakshmi Chahra are the tourist destinations here. Even though settlements have been developed in this area since the implementation of the Raptidun project, the tribal Tharu community has been living there since then. Tharu, Darai, Bote, Magar, Gurung, Dura, Newar, Rai etc. have their own customs and art-culture in this area, Bahunkshetri, Dashnami and Kami, Damain, Sarki, Gaines also live in this area.

Not only religious and ritual, another feature of this region is the natural beauty of greenery and wild animal habitats. This area has started to become the choice of tourists because of the greenery of the forest, clean riverbeds, grasslands for grazing wild animals, clean climate, as well as one-horned rhinoceros, spotted tigers, chitals, deer, gourigai and many species of birds found in the forest.

Madi is a place that is highly affected by wildlife attacks. Now there is a trend towards earning money by showing wildlife to tourists. The village-filled Madi area is beautiful, peaceful and delightful. Rampreet Yadav, the founder of Chitwan National Park, says that living in this area free from pollution and noise feels refreshing.

Mayor of Madi Municipality Tarakumari Kazi Mahato is of the opinion that it is necessary for all three levels of government to work together in the development and expansion of tourism. With the development of community homestays in Madi, the arrival of local and foreign tourists is increasing. In the tourism development of Madi, it is necessary to bring in tourists from the neighboring country India.
