Ganeshman, who became the entire history of the democratic movement, passed away on the morning of 2 Asoj 2054 at his residence in Chaksibari, Kathmandu. He became the Minister of Industry and Commerce in the Rana-Congress cabinet in 2007 BS. In 2008, he became the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Food in the government led by the then Congress leader Matrika Prasad Koirala. He became the Minister of Construction and Transport in the cabinet led by BP Koirala after becoming an MP in the first general election. That was the last opportunity for him to get a position of profit. After that, he never held a position of profit . He had been suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, difficulty urinating, and problems related to his knees and neck for a long time . After a plane crash in Bharatpur in 2051, he was diagnosed with back and neck problems . He died of a heart attack . He died in his bedroom . But even the family was unaware of when he died . Because, his daughter Dr. Mita Singh, who was sleeping nearby, was also unaware . She only found out about her father's death when she woke up in the morning.

The country was in mourning due to the death of Ganeshman . Everyone knew about his death from the news of Radio Nepal . As soon as the news was known, a crowd of high-ranking personalities of the country, including the general public, gathered at the Chaksibari residence of the Kathmandu District Party. The government had decided to give him state honors. King Birendra issued a condolence statement and said that he was saddened by the death of a personality dedicated to democracy. A meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Committee was held at Singh's residence in Chaksibari. The meeting decided to keep his body in Chaksibari for two days so that the general public could pay their respects. 50,000 people signed his condolence book in a single day.
On his death, UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal issued a statement saying that Ganeshman Singh was a lifelong struggler for the politics of values and norms, constantly active for the restoration of democracy and a pinnacle man who always stood firm in the principles of freedom, equality and brotherhood.
The news prepared based on his contribution, adding the context of Ganeshman's death and the state of mourning created across the country, was published by Kantipur Daily on Asoj 3, 2054 under various titles. Kantipur published the same day under the titles 'Death of Supreme Commander of the People's Movement Ganeshman Singh', 'Singh's demise is a huge void in Nepali politics' and 'Important events in Singh's political life'.
