The ruling UML was very angry after the Supreme Court ruled to restore the parliament on Bhadra 12, 2052. The UML, through its sister organizations, had been publicly stating that Chief Justice Bishwanath Upadhyay had made an unjust decision.

The leaders' speech also clearly showed that they were not satisfied with the Supreme Court's decision. On the day the decision to restore the parliament was made, slogans like 'hang the Chief Justice' were raised in the court premises. After Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari dissolved the parliament and overturned the recommendation for mid-term elections, the UML had been saying that the Supreme Court was biased.

The UML left the government after Prime Minister Adhikari did not receive a vote of confidence in the special session of the House of Representatives. On Bhadra 26, 2052, the king appointed Sher Bahadur Deuba, the leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party, as the Prime Minister. Although the UML supported the transfer of power, it had been actively campaigning against the court's decision through fraternal organizations across the country.

Immediately after the court's decision, protests began in major cities including Kathmandu. Fraternal organizations across the country had already staged protests against the Supreme Court's decision. The UML's argument was that the Supreme Court recognized the mid-term elections recommended by the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in 2051 but overturned the recommendation made by the official.

Even after a week of Deuba becoming Prime Minister, the UML's anger had not subsided. That is why UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal had once again expressed his anger towards the court at a press conference organized in Kathmandu on Asoj 1, 2052. In a party press interaction program, General Secretary Nepal had said that he would file an impeachment motion against the judge who would pronounce the decision to restore the parliament. His statement sent a clear message about how aggressive the UML was towards the Supreme Court. He had argued that it was his constitutional right to oppose the court's decision, saying that it was not possible to reach a decision without controversy. He had said, ‘The process of impeaching the judge has been initiated to maintain the dignity of the Supreme Court and because the current Chief Justice said he would handcuff the UML leader.’ He argued that the court had failed to provide justice, saying that the verdict should not be enforced. He said that the Supreme Court’s decision to restore the parliament would be reviewed. In a statement issued by the UML Publicity Department at the press conference, it was stated that the Deuba-led government was a coalition of power interests. UML was also unhappy with the situation that the Panchas had entered the government within a few years. The former Panchas had got the opportunity to come to power before the 2046 change could be institutionalized. In the 2051 election, the RPP had won 20 seats. If the government was to be formed by keeping the UML out, the RPP would have to be brought to power.

The statement mentioned the political exposure of the opposition parties, saying, "While it is a natural matter for parties to come and go to power in a parliamentary system, the current incident has created a compelling situation where the tricks played by the current ruling party and their malicious intentions must be exposed to the public." The statement said that the court's decision had punished their party, the UML, and called the incident a "very sad and unfortunate" incident in history.

Kantipur published a news report on the UML's views on the Supreme Court even after the government was formed under the leadership of Deuba on October 2, 2052 under the title "UML to bring impeachment motion against two Supreme Court judges."
