In 1996, Ganeshman Singh, who participated in the movement for democracy as a member of the People's Council, was sentenced to imprisonment by the Ranas. He became a founding member of the National Congress in 2003 after breaking the prison wall and meeting BP Koirala in India.
He became a founding member of the Nepali Congress in 2006, staying with BP in the fight for democracy. He fought for democracy all his life. Ganeshman, who stood in favor of democracy during the Rana era and promoted the Congress party, formally announced his resignation from the Congress on August 31, 2051. His biggest complaint about leaving the Congress was against the working style of the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
Ganeshman, who had been expressing dissatisfaction since the Congress convention held in Jhapa's Kalbalgudi in the year 2048, did not like Koirala's style of governance. Political appointments made by the government, Tanakpur Agreement, factionalism within the party, dissolution of the House of Representatives and other events led him to leave the party that he had defiled all his life.
After the Supreme Court ruled against the Prime Minister in the Tanakpur Agreement, Koirala's stand was that he should leave the post. The dissolution of the House of Representatives made him more angry. Ganeshman, who is confident that the Supreme Court will restore the House of Representatives, when that did not happen, he announced his resignation from the Congress by holding a press conference at his residence, Khumaltar. He said, whatever wrongdoings have been done by Girija Prasad Koirala, the party president Krishna Prasad Bhattarai has played the role of Matiar.' ![[Archive] Because of this, Ganeshman Singh left the Congress](https://assets-cdn.ekantipur.com/uploads/source/news/kantipur/2025/miscellaneous/page61-03102025035336-1000x0.jpg)
Ganeshman Singh said that Koirala should resign immediately after the government was defeated on the issue of Tanakpur agreement. The last incident was on August 27, 2051, when the House of Representatives was not restored, he announced that he would not sit in the Congress on the same day. As a continuation of that, he announced that he will leave the Congress and become independent by holding a press conference. In the press conference, he said that even though he left the party, he did not leave politics.
At that time, he made a political analysis and targeted the former party, "Now those who oppressed for 30 years from 2017 are coming wearing the crown of democracy and nationalism." He said that there is a dispute in 75 districts of the Congress and there is no possibility of returning to the party until it is resolved and the unpopularity of the government remains. But he also said that he can return again if the party improves after seeing his needs. He said, 'Anti-democratic and dictatorial work is being done within the Congress party.' He also asked not to call himself the supreme leader of the Congress.
Ganeshman Singh's official resignation from the Congress by holding a press conference was published by Kantipur on October 1, 2051 under the title 'Nepali Congress Quit by Ganeshman Singh'.
