Even though the leaders were given the freedom to contest the elections, after Ganeshman announced that he would leave the Congress, there was concern that the party would suffer a huge loss.

The decision of the Supreme Court made it certain that the country would go to the mid-term elections. In the Nepali Congress, the decision of the top leader not to go to the election was made last month. The leaders were in trouble due to the decision on July 12, 2051.
Congress Supreme Leader Ganeshman Singh had announced that he had quit the party after the Supreme Court confirmed the mid-term elections. On August 27, 2051, the day the Supreme Court rejected the writ of dissolution of the House of Representatives, Ganeshman also announced his separation from the Congress through Kantipur Daily. On the one hand, the announcement that the top leader will not be a candidate in the election and on the other hand Ganeshman's announcement that he has left the Congress caused a great uproar in the party. It was estimated that this could damage the party in the mid-term elections.
2051 In the Congress Central Committee meeting held on August 29, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said that he was troubled by the decision not to contest the elections. He held the opinion in the Central Committee that the decision to hold elections under his leadership but not to become a candidate was made an 'issue' even by the opposition. After he expressed his views, the decision made in the previous month was cancelled. The Central Committee had decided not to stop all the leaders from contesting the elections.
Even though the leaders got the freedom to contest the elections, after Ganeshman announced that he would leave the Congress, the party was worried that it would suffer a huge loss. The matter was discussed in the Central Committee. On the morning of the central committee meeting, Chairman Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, leaders Ramchandra Paudel, Sher Bahadur Deuba and Shailaja Acharya met Ganeshman at his residence in Khumaltar. Ganeshman Veer, who had been ill for a long time, was living in Khumaltar without going to his private residence Chaxibari after being discharged from the hospital. ![[Archive] After Ganeshman announced to quit Congress...](https://assets-cdn.ekantipur.com/uploads/source/news/kantipur/2025/miscellaneous/2051-5-30-02102025045745-1000x0.jpg)
Leaders including Krishna Prasad had a long discussion with Ganeshman in Khumaltar. During the discussion, Ganeshman said that he could not back down from his decision to leave the Congress. He also said that he had nothing but that road.
In the central committee meeting, Bhattarai gave brief information about the discussion with Ganeshman and said that he was hurt by his decision to leave the party. Krishna Prasad also requested Prime Minister Koirala to visit Ganeshman that morning. But Koirala had not gone.
Paudlel said in a conversation with Kantipur, 'Ganeshman wants to keep himself as a 'reserve force'. In his absence, nothing has been achieved in the consensus reached in the Congress. In the meeting, central member Chiranjeevi Wagle said that he cannot fight the electoral mahabharat without the supreme leader's blessings.
Central members Mangaladevi Singh and Mani Lama were present in the meeting. Although it was said that Mangaladevi could not attend because she was unwell, it was assumed that the political issue was connected. Ganeshman's main dissatisfaction was with Prime Minister Koirala for a long time.
Ganeshman was against the mid-term elections. Ganeshman was of the opinion that it was wrong to hold mid-term elections despite the majority of the Congress in the House of Representatives. After the confirmation of the mid-term elections, the news prepared by the journalist Taranath Dahal, focusing on the problems within the Congress and Ganeshman leaving the party, was published by Kantipur Dainik on 30 August 2051 under the title 'Nepali Congress leaders are free to contest elections'. In that meeting, the journalists also expressed their protest saying that because the Congress did not allow the journalists to enter, they had to stay wet on the streets for five hours.
