Lenin Dorjee introduced a casino in Nepal on March 10, 1968, 57 years ago. Some called him Bhutanese, some said he was from Sikkim. Initially, approval was given to operate as a night club.

Dorjee ran a casino for 8 years under Solti Hotel in Nepal. The government also gave a year's revenue exemption to encourage casinos.

The casino started with 50 workers and by 1976 had started employing 100 people . By 2051, the casino was paying 12 million in revenue to the government. At that time, when the annual budget of the government was around 40 billion, the revenue from the casino was also considered a big part . By that time, the number of casinos had increased to four. Three casinos opened simultaneously in 2049.

By 2051, the four casinos employed nearly 2,500 people. All four casinos were operated by the Recreation Center. All four casinos were owned by American citizen RD Tuttle . At that time, the government used to earn 50 million rupees annually from the operation of various existing casinos. It was believed that a casino run by a foreigner is for foreigners. Because, in the casino, most of the Indians and other countries were only Fattfut .

Since 1978, Nepalis were barred from entering the casino. Regardless of the nature of the game played in the casino, financial transactions were done in Indian rupees. There were many Indians in Annapurna, Everest, Casino Nepal, Royal Casino. No matter how many foreigners came, those who played in the casino were only about 30 percent. Narayan Gurung, chief security officer of Casino Nepal, said, "There are more people playing and eating with free coupons than paying money." [Archive] This is how casinos entered Nepal

Other casinos in Kathmandu did not have this facility. Casinos used to be open 16 to 24 hours . Many visitors to the casino said that they play for fun rather than money. Some of them went out drinking alcohol, listening to ghazal and eating dinner rather than playing in the casino. RS Thapa, managing director of Casino Nepal, used to say, "Pashupatinath and the casino are the forgotten places in Kathmandu for Indian tourists." Contractors and foreign project workers used to play in the casino. It used to be said at that time, "Casino operator Tuttle gives free food and how many foreigners eat it and come back."

The process of opening a casino in India was also started . There was also a concern that if a casino were to be operated in India, it would affect Nepal. There were many Indians visiting the casinos in Nepal and there was concern. General Manager of Nepal Casino BK Shakya used to say that it is impossible to predict what will happen in Nepal after the casino opens in India. Due to the increase in the number of casinos in Nepal, the profit was decreasing.

Some people used to call casinos gambling arenas . Kantipur Dainik, a news prepared by journalist Tirtha Koirala, focusing on the history of casino operations in Nepal and its condition three decades ago, published the news on August 20, 2051 under the title "Kathmandu's Colorful Casinos".
